GENERAL INFORMATION
The Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth, at about 1,300 feet (400 meters) below sea level. The area is renowned for its health giving properties of rich minerals. It is the largest natural spa in the world. The healing properties of the Dead Sea have been known for Millennia, and people have travelled from all over the world to relieve symptoms of rheumatism, arthritis, and psoriasis. Many come to the Dead Sea to relax from the stressful day-to-day life that we lead. A unique place to recharge your batteries.

SPAS AND TREATMENT CENTRES
Most of the hotels have fully equipped spas offering the latest treatments, which are paid for locally. Some hotels have special areas where psoriasis sufferers can enjoy the direct rays of the sun. In addition there are medical centres where one can be examined by qualified doctors who can advise the best form of treatment. (To be paid locally).
SHOPPING
There are a few mini shopping centres in the centre selling predominately Dead Sea products. and souvenirs.
FOOD AND ENTERTAINMENT
It is advisable to book half board at the hotel at which you are staying, as there are very few restaurants in the area.
SIGHTSEEING
Ein Gedi Nature Reserve- Two streams flow into the reserve. The waters running through the reserve together with the desert climate have created a large volume of tropical plants and a home for wildlife.
Masada- The Herodian fortress is the most visited archaeological sites in Israel. It can be reached from two directions, either from the Dead Sea in the east, via the original and steep snake path, or from the west on a path built from the old Roman ramp, offering an easier climb or a cable car.
Qumran-Its name is now firmly associated with the Dead Sea Scrolls-one of the most valuable archaeological finds ever. Today the national park of Qumran includes a reconstructed Essene settlement, which is not far from the cave where the first scrolls were found.
TRANSFERS FROM BEN GURION AIRPORT
Some hotels offer free-shared taxi transfers from the airport for minimum 7 night stays. Otherwise the cost of a taxi up to seven passengers is approximately a total of £85 one way. Time of journey around 3 hours.
